BMP Medical, of Sterling Massachusetts, provides custom OEM injection molded medical devices. In 2016, BMP Medical became the first plastics injection molding company to meet the rigorous MedAccred audit criteria and receive MedAccred Accreditation from the industry-managed supply chain accreditation program. Business growth led BMP Medical to expand their 30,000 square-foot facility to 80,000 square feet, and to install 16 injection molding machines into their expanded Class 8 cleanroom. Mike Faulkner, company President and owner, told Plastics Today “We have experienced high single- to low double-digit growth” (Norbert Sparrow, “BMP Medical more than doubles production capacity”, Plastics Today, February 08, 2019).
As more Medical Device and Medical Instrument OEMs expect (or even require) suppliers to hold MedAccred accreditation to gain new business, it is imperative that U.S. medical manufactures performing a critical process to gain accreditation, or risk being locked out of this growth. The MEP MedMMAP program assists U.S. facilities to effectively and efficiently prepare for the rigorous MedAccred audit in the areas of Plastics Injection Molding, Plastics Extrusion, Printed Circuit Board Assembly, Cable and Wire Harness, Welding, and Heat Treating.
